Gilles
was born and raised around Canada's capital, but now spends most of his
time at his Nashville "Music City" apartment. His experience (typically
playing about 200 shows a year!) and talent allow him to tastefully combine
a great groove with the right chops. Gilles is a prolific drummer whose
passion and enthusiasm for music have earned him several outstanding musicianship
awards and a seat on stage with artists such as The Town Pants (Maximum/Universal),
Tim Murphy (Big 7), Amanda Rheaume (Independent), Hennessey/Sugarjack
(PopGuru/Universal), Terry Tufts (NorthernBlues), and guest appearances
with Spirit of the West (WEA), and Shania Twain (Mercury Nashville).
Through the years, Gilles has been seen and heard locally, regionally,
and nationally on stages of all sizes across North America, on college
and national radio networks (such as CBC, CHUM) and on regional and national
television networks (including NBC, CBC, and CTV).
Gilles' formal training includes drum and percussion instruction from
Claude Nadon, Claude Durivage (Berklee Alumni), and Greg Runions (B.Mus,
M.Mus), theory instruction from Cathy-Lynn Yorke-Slader (B.Mus, B.Ed),
piano instruction from Cheryl Mielke and Thomas Davidson (B.Mus, M.Mus),
and voice instruction from Lisa Pecora (B.Ed, B.Mus, M.Mus). Musical styles
studied and played through the years include Rock, Funk, R&B/Soul, Latin,
Blues, Country, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Classical.
Gilles is currently touring with New Music Weekly's 2006 "Top Male Artist
of the Year" and two-time Grammy Award nominee, Tim Murphy (Big 7).
"Gilles can play anything and everything with great feel and groove
and rock and ease...and he's an excellent person to share the stage with."
- Pamela Brennan
(NorthernBlues Music)
"Running on all cylinders all of the time, Gilles is on a mission
to make a lot of good music with a lot of good people...from project to
project, as producer, drummer or supporter, Gilles Nadon fills a big pair
of shoes."
- George Birchall
(Independent)
"Gilles lives and breathes drums. If he plays them any more he
will turn into one himself. He eats off an upturned cymbal, his laundry
hamper is a kick drum, his front door operated by a high-hat foot-pedal,
and his car steering wheel a rototom!"
- Aaron Chapman
(The Town Pants, Maximum/Universal)
